twining dyes
Brief: Represent yourself through your work by drawing inspiration from the Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand region.

Concept: In Uttarakhand, renowned for its serene charm, the focus lies on handcrafting items from wool rather than a distinctive weaving technique. Eager to blend wool and natural elements as a tribute to nature, I envisioned creating a wall hanging using the local weaving methods. However, discovering the absence of traditional weaving techniques, I embraced the Twining weaving technique I was familiar with.
This experience instilled in me patience and a deeper reverence for nature's beauty, transforming the creative process into a joyful appreciation of the journey itself.

Natural Dyeing Process

Process: In pursuit of capturing the pure essence of nature, I gathered flowers and leaves from diverse spots across the Pauri Garhwal region. Extracting natural hues from these elements, I used them to dye cotton yarns.
Subsequently, I intricately weaved these dyed cotton yarns together with wool, creating a fusion of textures and colours inspired by the region's vibrant landscapes.
